People ask me what I do, and I half-jokingly reply “I don’t really know.” There is probably more truth to this then I realize. I won’t beat around the bush.

I am a freelance writer and grad school student.  I write marketing copy, but I aspire to write so much more.

In the recent past, I have marketed businesses and spiritual communities, maximized web sites, tried to write a screenplay (like it seems everyone is) and all in all have tried to make trouble.

As for school, I am studying theology @ Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle, WA.  Why??  I dunno… yet.  We’ll see what strange plan God has me part of.   In the meantime, I am getting completely discombobulated by all the theological tweaking and counseling training that I am subjecting myself to.

I also care a lot about the Church. I am admittedly disenchanted about it (the institution of it, that is). And not with the best attitude at times. God is working with me in this area. I am learning how to manage the agitator in me, with not the best of success at times.

According to the Clifton StrengthsFinder, my strengths are:

Strategic‚ ‚ ‚ ‚  Maximizer‚ ‚ ‚ ‚  Connectedness‚ ‚ ‚ ‚  Input‚ ‚ ‚ ‚  Ideation

I have been a strengths coach twice, as I love helping people maximize who God made them to be.

According to Meyers-Briggs, I am an ENFP.

In my nano-free time, I read cookbooks, theology and politics, enjoy wine, work out a lot and feebly try to let God mold me into a better man.  And I play the guitar and sing, which is when I feel most at home.

I have been encouraged reading your blog.
WordPress linked your May 10, 2007 post to my blog “A Spacious Place.”

    I am also an ENFP.

Thanks for taking the time to write.

I am glad you are encouraged, Sara. I hope to start writing more, but I have been busy with grad school writing. Glad to meet another ENFP. We are a special bunch.

      Take care!
      Alex

Hi, I am also tendering the garden and I’m doing it from cover to cover, just so one day I can say “Yes, I’ve read the good book in its entirety.” I am on Nehemiah now but I couldn’t claim to have understood every bit of the antiquated plots. But I’m enjoying the activity. Luke is my favorite among the gospel writers, I am a mom with two teen-age girls, so I probably relate to the gossip style. Yours must be John because you are profound in your thoughts, very spiritual. Keep on with your guitar music, it is the food of your soul. Keep tendering your garden, the wild weeds grow fast. And the flowers need to be spoken to…..

Yes I will keep tending to my garden. Your encouragement is well-received. Your words are much appreciated.

Don’t worry about the Church. It’s an imperfect institution run by imperfect people (like you and me). It’s a tool, or rather a collection of tools, we use to access God. Though imperfect, it’s the best we’ve got here on earth.

Hi there. Only God knows what He wills for our lives but I know He tells us when we ask Him. Perhaps He is asking you to use your music to sing His songs of love to the people you know. Perhaps He is asking You to touch the lives of many who stumble across your blog by the things you share. Perhaps He wants you to be a prayer warrior and reach out across the world by praying for others through your blog.

Who knows? Only God knows. May He bless you and favour you with the gift of knowledge and discernment. May He show you the path He wants you to take. God bless you and your loved ones.

    Best regards,
    Ai Boon

Be encouraged with your imperfect self…..you bring encouragement….yeah, encouragement with grace. The written ‘grace’ piece makes me want more to give away.

I totally know where you’re coming from with the church. It’s an on again off again thing for me.

btw, I’m an INFJ, so we’re supposed to get along really well ;) .

I am having deep struggles with current models of church. This is why I am in seminary. Got to work through this stuff. I fear that many of the efforts in the 480,000 churches in this country are beginning to stall. Largely, the American church is passive, internal and attractional and no longer a thriving mission movement. This has got to change.

Glad to meet another Meyer Briggs person. Can you stand up to my extreme randomness and gregariousness? ;-)

Thank you for linking to my blog. I am new to WordPress so this was a real thrill for me. I am glad to see that there are many others who love Christ. It seems that Christians are defeated. Liberalism is the new religion. I am glad you are listening and heeding God’s word and plan for you. Keep up the great work. I will pray for you. Keep reading my blog at imissmybaby.wordpress.com, as I share my experiences about how God got me through three years of failed pregnancies. I am a witness that God is good! I am typing this as I sit in the hospital recovering from the delivery of my baby girl. I am so excited. God Bless You All.
